Listening to some streaming music today I heard a not so little, but rather large gem. I had programmed Irish music when a piece from Finian’s Rainbow played. This is a musical based on leprechauns, pots of gold, emigration and a fictional and fanciful Irish village and a purpose made fictional state, Missitucky, in America. If you like stories of pure joy, innocence and lots of cliches, an idyllic world and including some beautiful tunes, this may be for you!

The song being played was How are Things in Glocca Morra, not by the original artiste Petula Clarke but incredibly, Barbra Streisand. Now I do not usually appreciate non Irish performers pretending a Gaelic connection, I’m afraid I may be a little precious on that! Streisand does an incredible interpretation, the voice, the emotion and yes, the soul. You may incline to believe that I am a fan! Streisand is the greatest, in my opinion.
Have a listen
